With the New Year’s celebrations and winter break now subsiding, several Zambian players plying their trade abroad were in action for their clubs over the weekend.
Having a new lease of life in Saudi Arabia, Chipolopolo midfielder Emmanuel Banda chalked up a goal and assist in Al Tai’s 2-1 victory against Abha. He has three goals in 12 league games for the Saudi second-tier outfit since leaving Croatia due to limited playing time.
Meanwhile, in the topflight, Fashion Sakala became Al Fayha’s all-time top scorer in the Saudi Pro League after finding the back of the net against Al Ittihad. With his 24th league goal, he surpassed Danilo Asprilla and Ronnie Fernández, who both netted 23 goals during their time at the Panthers.

Patson Daka came off the bench at the hour mark to assist Leicester City’s penultimate goal as they run riot against Queens Park Rangers in the FA Cup with a 6-2 win.
In Israel, Kings Kangwa brought his A-game to Hapoel Be’er Sheva’s Ligat Ha’Al encounter with Hapoel Haifa. No player created more chances (4), completed more dribbles (3) and won more duels (10) than the Copper Bullet star. He also attempted the most tackles (6) on his team as they defeated Haifa 1-0.
Sabobo plays two matches in one day, Chaiwa starts again
FC Zurich and BSC Young Boys concluded their international camps in Turkey where they were stationed over the past week to play some club friendlies. Chaiwa started for the second match in a row since returning from injury, playing 71 minutes in Young Boys 1-0 loss to Ludogorets Razgrad on Friday.
Meanwhile, Joseph Sabobo Banda made the starting XI against Fethuyespor and featured as a 75th minute substitute vs. Universitatea Cluj on Sunday.

Gift Mphande was a starter in Hapoel Rishon Lezion’s 2-1 triumph against Hapoel Acre while Songa Chipyoka was an unused substitute for Hapoel Petah Tikva in their clash with Kfar Qasem.

Former Power Dynamos striker Andy Boyeli scored a hat-trick for Sekhukhune United as they massacred Ghampani Lungu’s Supersport United 3-0 in the South African topflight.
Kennedy Musonda and Clatous Chama came off the bench at the death in Yanga SC’s 1-0 win over Al Hilal in the CAF Champions League. Meanwhile, Joshua Mutale’s Simba SC qualified to the CAF Confederations Cup quarterfinals.
