Zambia U-17 national team striker Abel Salim Nyirongo is currently in England undergoing trials with two Premier League clubs, sources have confirmed to BolaNews.
The 17-year-old forward played a pivotal role in Zambia’s triumphant campaign at the 2024 COSAFA U-17 Championship, where the team clinched the regional title and secured qualification for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Nyirongo finished as the tournament’s top scorer, netting seven goals to claim the Golden Boot.
His impressive form continued at the U-17 AFCON, where he registered two goals and one assist, helping Zambia reach the quarterfinals and, in the process, book a place at the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup, scheduled to take place from 3 to 27 November in Qatar.

A product of Atletico Lusaka, Nyirongo was most recently training with Italian Serie A side Cagliari before attracting attention from clubs in the English top flight.
BolaNews understands that Nyirongo has already arrived in England, where he is expected to be assessed by two Premier League sides.
“He is already in England and will attend trials at two top clubs. A deal could be finalized soon — it’s close, but we’ll have to wait and see,” a source familiar with the situation said.
Earlier this year, reports suggested that Manchester United had sent scouts to monitor the striker during the U-17 AFCON in Morocco. However, sources close to the player later clarified that there was no formal approach or offer from the English giants.
