After recovering from a shoulder injury, Zambian international defender Ngosa Sunzu has disclosed his intention to rejoin the Chipolopolo Boys squad.

Sunzu, who can also play midfield, has primarily served as a center-back for FC Silon Táborsko of the Czech Republic’s First National League.

After the injury, he returned to action on Wednesday, scoring his first goal of the season to help Silon Táborsko defeat SK ZCE Plzen in the League Cup second round.

In an interview with BolaNews, Sunzu stated that he is putting in a lot of effort at his club to obtain the necessary paperwork to be considered for the national team.

“The dream for every player is to be called to the national team, but the first priority is to work hard where you are, and the club up will come,” said the 26-year-old defender.

“The season is going well; last Wednesday I scored my first goal of the season; just the other week I was out because of a shoulder problem, but I’m back now.”

Sunzu on returning to the national team

The towering defender, who spent an outstanding two years at Buildcon FC, previously competed for the senior national team in the 2018 COSAFA Cup. He was also part of the Chipolopolo squad during the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Due to an injury sustained while the team was camping in Morocco, Sunzu was unable to play in the first two matches before Zambia’s opening encounter against Mauritania.

Having played six games and scored one goal in the 2024–25 season, he has set his sights on helping his club win promotion to the Czech Super League after missing out on it the season before.

In an effort to move past his transfer problems, Sunzu adds that he is motivated to play for his current team.

“Personally, I want to keep playing, to be consistent because I have lacked that. The past three seasons, the transfers killed my motivation at one point, but I’m glad that I’m back and playing.”

Sunzu was also part of the Zambia Under-20 squad that played at the 2017 FIFA World Cup.
