Saudi Pro League side Al Fayha have confirmed that Zambian striker Fashion Sakala has signed a contract extension worth a reported $4 million per season, keeping him at the club until 2029.

Sakala joined Al Fayha in August 2023 and has since established himself as one of the club’s most influential attacking players. In 105 appearances across all competitions, he has scored 43 goals and provided 19 assists.

His impressive performances have significantly enhanced his reputation in Saudi Arabia, making him one of Zambia’s most productive players abroad.

“Al Fayha Club has completed the renewal of Zambian international Fashion Sakala’s contract, keeping the first-team star with Al Fayha until 2029, in the presence of Club Chairman Dr. Tawfiq Saleh Almodihem,” the club announced.

“The renewal reflects the club’s commitment to preserving the achievements made in recent seasons and maintaining technical stability, following the impressive performances Sakala has delivered since joining Al Fayha in the summer of 2023.”

Sakala’s previous contract was set to expire at the end of this month, with reports from Europe recently linking the forward with a move to French side RC Lens.

The Ligue 1 outfit had reportedly been monitoring Sakala for several months and identified him as a key transfer target as they sought to strengthen their attacking options.

Lens were hoping that the prospect of competing in European competitions next season, including the possibility of UEFA Champions League football, would help persuade the player to return to Europe.

With Al Fayha’s lucrative contract extension now confirmed, Sakala has expressed his gratitude to the club for the confidence shown in him.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the club’s president, board members, management and everyone at Al Fayha for their trust, belief, and confidence in me once again. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to continue this beautiful journey with a club that feels like home,” Sakala has said.
