Ex-Chipolopolo defender Davies Nkausu has paid tribute to former team manager Lusekelo Kamwambi who passed on after an illness yesterday.

Kamwambi was the team manager when Zambia lifted its first ever Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) title in 2012.

Nkausu, who was part of the AfCON winning team worked with Kamwambi on several occasions including at junior teams, the under – 23 and 20.

Nkausu said in an interview that he is lost for words.

“What can I say? We came a long way with him from the junior teams,” the former defender said.

Nkausu has fond memories of Kamwambi.

“He had a good sense of humour. He loved Shaka Zulu… he would memorize everything that Shaka said in the movie.

“And on the bus, when we are going to training, he will just pop up with a Shaka quote. He was a good manager, take nothing away from him he was a good manager,” he said.

Meanwhile, Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president has mourned Kamwambi.

“We have learnt of the death of Mr Lusekelo Kamwambi, a former national team manager and football administrator with a sense of deep shock. On behalf of my executive committee and the entire football family, I wish to convey my deepest condolences to the Kamwambi family,” Kamanga said in a statement.
