Zambia’s Kingstone Mutandwa continued his impressive form in the Austrian Bundesliga, scoring his sixth league goal in 12 appearances on Sunday as SV Ried fell 4-1 to Red Bull Salzburg.
The 22-year-old netted the equalizer for Ried, but the game turned against his side after Nikki Havenaar was shown a red card in the 49th minute. Salzburg capitalized on the numerical advantage, scoring three more goals to seal the victory and move to the top of the table.
Since joining Ried on loan from Italy’s Cagliari Calcio, the Zambian forward has been a standout performer. He has scored nine goals across all competitions, including three braces in 21 appearances, proving instrumental for the newly promoted side, who currently sit ninth on the table with 14 points from 12 games.
The former Atletico Lusaka striker made his senior international debut for Zambia in September 2024 during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against the Ivory Coast, coming on in the 75th minute of a 2-0 defeat.
In September 2025, Mutandwa withdrew from the national team camp after being called up by then-Chipolopolo coach Avram Grant, citing personal reasons.
