Chipolopolo and Power Dynamos Goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga is set to return to action this weekend after suffering a facial injury that ruled him out of the CAF Champions League second-leg tie against Simba.
Mulenga collided with Zesco United’s Kelvin Kampamba during a week 5 fixture of the Zambian Premier League and was immediately rushed to the hospital as he sustained bruises on his face.
Power’s team manager, Lombe Mutale, has confirmed the latest development to BolaNews, saying Mulenga is back in training.
“He [Lawrence Mulenga] is back in training and has been training with the squad since Wednesday,” he said. “Making the first eleven is now dependent on the coach. But he is back in the team after the incident with Kampamba.”
Lombe also explained why Mulenga has been left out of the latest Chipolopolo squad for the upcoming international against Egypt and Uganda.
“For now, he has been excused because the National Team technical bench did not want to rush him despite being given a go-ahead from the medics here.

Lombe is optimistic that the 25-year-old shot-stopper will return to the national team for the World Cup qualifiers.

Meanwhile, the Zambian Premier League has announced that the games between Napsa Stars and Mutondo Stars, Zanaco, and Nkwazi FC have been moved to Sunday.
