Kings Kangwa’s Panathinaikos will host Brighton & Hove Albion, while Edward Chilufya’s Midtjylland will welcome Ajax to Denmark, according to the UEFA Conference League draw held on Friday at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.

Greek outfit Panathinaikos made it to the league phase of the UEFA Conference League after defeating Hradec Králové 2-1 in the second leg and 4-3 on aggregate during the playoff. Their new signing, Kangwa, could not feature in the match as he had already participated in UEFA club competition preliminaries with Hapoel Be’er Sheva.

Now cleared to feature in the league phase, the Zambian midfielder will be looking forward to home matches against England’s Brighton & Hove Albion, Bulgaria’s PFC CSKA Sofia, and Bosnian champions FK Borac Banja Luka. They will also travel to Germany, Kazakhstan, and Denmark to face SC Freiburg, FC Kairat, and FC Nordsjælland, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Danish side Midtjylland was ruthless in their UEFA Conference League playoff second leg match, drubbing HNK Rijeka 4-1 to claim a 6-1 aggregate victory. Chilufya was an unused substitute as he continues to await his first outing of the campaign.

Midtjylland will host four-time UEFA Champions League winners Ajax, Belgium’s Sint-Truidense V.V., and HNK Hajduk Split of Croatia. They will also pay visits to Pafos in Cyprus, Lincoln Red Imps in Gibraltar, and KF Egnatia in Albania.

Panathinaikos’ best performance in Europe was reaching the 1971 European Cup final, which they lost 1-0 to Ajax, while for Midtjylland, making the 2025-26 Europa League Round of 16 stands out. They, however, lost 3-0 on penalties to Nottingham Forest after drawing 2-2 across two legs.

The UEFA Conference League league phase kicks off on October 15 and will culminate in the final at Beşiktaş Park in Istanbul on June 2, 2027.
