Kanguluma is part of Grant’s 25-member squad for the back-to-back World Cup qualifier matches against Congo Brazzaville and Niger.

The center half was part of the Chipolopolo squad that participated in the 2023 Cosafa Cup and won their seventh title.

Kanguluma played in two matches at the Cosafa Cup, which Zambia won. He scored a goal at the tournament and his outstanding performances there have earned him a senior Chipolopolo call-up.

He expressed his delight at being named to the Chipolopolo squad in an exclusive interview with Bolanews and promised to give it his all.

“Well, it’s motivating to see that my work and my efforts are being seen,” he said. ” It’s such a great feeling to represent the national team, especially at this stage. I’m trying to be the best version of myself, trying to improve in every training session, so that come the day of the matches I can be ready and available to give it all.”

Kanguluma sets sights on AFCON

The 24-year-old has a dream of playing at the Afcon and remains hopeful he can be given a chance to represent the country at the tournament next year.

“It is something I have been praying for,” he stated. “Because, as players, we all wish and want to represent the country at the national team level.”

Currently, the Chipolopolo center-back partnership is between Stopilla Sunzu and Frankie Musonda. However, with Musonda injured, Grant will try to form a new partnership.

In the last friendly matches against Egypt and Uganda, he paired Sunzu with Dominic Chanda. The gaffer could maintain that partnership but Kanguluma will remain hopeful.

He has featured in 11 matches this season for his club, keeping three clean sheets and conceding nine goals.
