Zambian winger Songa Chipyoka and Hapoel Petah Tikva have been promoted to the Israeli top flight after a 1-0 win over Bnei Yehuda on Monday.

The 20-year-old Chipolopolo attacker contributed 6 goals and 7 assists in 29 games during Petah Tikva’s Liga Leumit 2024/25 campaign.

Across all competitions, Chipyoka recorded seven goals and eight assists in 34 games this season.

Chipolopolo head coach Avram Grant, who began his career at Petah Tikva, attended the match on Monday and congratulated Chipyoka, whom he handed his senior national team debut last year.

Reacting to his team’s promotion, the former Zesco United player took to social media to celebrate.

“Promotion [secured]. We [are going] for the league now,” he wrote to his Facebook followers. “Very proud to be part of this amazing team with amazing fans,” he added.

Chipyoka will now hope to continue his impressive form with Petah Tikva and earn a place in Zambia’s squad for the remaining World Cup qualifiers and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals.
