Avram Grant has named his final 25-man squad for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The tournament kicks off this Saturday, 2 August, across three East African nations — Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
The tournament, delayed from 2024, runs until 30 August 2025 and is exclusively for players active in their countries’ domestic leagues.
Zambia, is in Group A, and will battle hosts Kenya, Morocco, the DR Congo, and Angola.
The Chipolopolo will begin their campaign on Wednesday, 7 August, against DR Congo at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi. Kick-off is at 15 hours, Zambian time.
Phiri And Mwanza In Attack
FC MUZA’s in-form striker Andrew Phiri, alongside club-mate Kelvin Mwanza, will spearhead Zambia’s frontline, with Grant hoping the duo can help deliver a long-awaited CHAN crown.
Zambia have never won the competition since its inception in 2009, despite being one of Africa’s football big teams.
