Bafana Bafana caretaker coach Molefi Ntseki praised his players for displaying a good performance, despite their group stage elimination from the African Nations Championship tournament.
South Africa bowed out of the tournament after they played out to a 3-3 draw against co-hosts Uganda, finishing in third place and failing to advance to the knockout stages of the tournament.
Uganda and Algeria qualified for the knockout stages of the competition.
Bafana Bafana were level on points with Algeria but had a lower goal difference compared to their opponent.
However, reacting to the result, Bafana Head Coach Molefi Ntseki hailed his players for the good performance.
“I think we brought professionals, and they showed how professional they are. They showed their commitment, understanding that they are playing for their country and the game of football. Like I said, there are three results. Unfortunately today we got the result that we do not want,” he said.
“We wanted a win, and it did not happen for us. As for the future, I think the country is very proud of their performances, and we brought the best players that played very well in this tournament,” added Ntseki.

“Even after changing the subs, we managed to get an opportunity to get the fourth goal, but like I said, it was not meant to be. So, as South Africans, we are very proud of the performance that we experienced in this tournament from the professionals that we brought to the tournament,” concluded the coach.
