With Zambia facing elimination from the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN), midfielder Kelvin Kampamba says the team needs to show attitude against Morocco.

Zambia is enduring its worst-ever CHAN outing in history. The team is yet to win a match, having lost their opening two games.

Had the competition not taken up a new format where some groups have five teams in them, Chipolopolo would have already lost any hope of making it to the knockout stage by now.

Thankfully, the team still has a mathematical chance to make it to the last eight, but like Kampamba has said, it will take a lot of attitude.

Chipolopolo need to beat Morocco and hosts Kenya in their last two games and hope that the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Angola play to a stalemate.

“We need to show attitude against Morocco,” Kampamba said in a pre-match conference. “We know that Morocco will not be a pushover for us but the most important thing is that we need to show character.”

Zambia has lost to Angola and the DRC; the team’s confidence may have been punctured with these two results, but Kampamba says the team needs to “believe in ourselves because we are coming back from two games without a point.”

Grant maintained his view on the importance of Zambia taking part in the CHAN.

“We lost the first two games, but we learnt a lot. I am sure that we will learn from the next two games,” Grant said.

He urged his players to show a winning mentality and recover from the back-to-back defeats.
