Arsenal suffered their second defeat of the season following a 3-1 bashing by West Ham United at London Stadium on Wednesday night in the Carabao Cup.

The Gunners were eliminated from the competition in the fourth round after that defeat to the Hammers.

An own goal from Ben White put the home side in the lead before Mohammed Kudus scored in the first minutes of the second half to make it two for the home side.

Jarrod Bowen added a third goal, while Martin Odegaard scored a consolation goal in the final minutes of the match.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his disappointment but accepted blame for the defeat.

“I’m very disappointed,” he said after the match. “Obviously, I’m responsible for that. We are out of the Cup and we wanted to play a very different game especially we wanted to compete in a game like this, which we discussed for 48 hours in a very different way from what we have done.

“I wanted the team to play in a very different way and we haven’t managed to do that and every time you lose a game, the pain is there and we have to use this pain for Saturday, that’s for sure. We have to use this defeat to prepare the best way to go to Newcastle and win,” said Arteta.
