Mamelodi Sundowns defender Mothobi Mvala has shared the team’s specific strategies for the upcoming second leg match in the final of the CAF Champions League against Pyramids of Egypt.

The two sides will meet on Sunday, June 1, for the second leg after a 1-1 draw in last weekend’s tie in South Africa. The match is scheduled for 19:00 CAT at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo.

Speaking before the team’s trip to Egypt, Mvala highlighted that his team’s lapse in focus during the first leg enabled the visitors to equalize.

Mvala said there is a need to make every opportunity count in the second leg, stressing the need to get quick goals and not allow the same mistakes to happen again.

“In the first league we did well; you know we started well, we didn’t allow them to put crosses. It’s just that in the closing minutes we lost concentration, then we allowed the cross in the box, and we didn’t mark well in the box. We need to work on it,” Mvala said.

“We Need To Fight To The Last Minute” – Mvala.

“I think we should kill the game early. To kill the game, we need to score more goals – three goals to kill the game. You know we kill their confidence because when they score one, they get confidence to come back, especially towards the end where you start to sit deep. Once they take the ball, that’s where they will get the confidence.”

Mvala emphasizes the significance of experience in handling the pressure associated with delivering in the final of the CAF Champions League, finding solace in Pyramids’ limited fan base.

“I hope when we go outside we get at least maybe three goals. We really need the experienced players to come to the party, especially in the change room, to push the guys to win the game because you know it’s not going to be an easy game. We played there before, and then we got the result that side, and knowing them, they don’t have supporters is something that’s going to be in our advantage a little bit; we just need to grind the results and fight from minute one to the last minute.“

Sundowns require a clear victory or a draw with a score of 2-2 or more to regain the title they secured in 2016.
