It is done and dusted, Kalisto Pasuwa has guided the Flames of Malawi, to the second round playoffs of the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN), Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024 qualifiers.

Malawi hammered Comoros 4-0 on aggregate and will await for the winner between South Africa and Egypt.

Flames coach Kalisto Pasuwa was excited seeing his boys scoring twice in each match and without conceding.

Speaking after the match, Pasuwa is happy with the progress so far seeing his boys adjusting with the short period of time.

“Malawi football is still in the off season, fitness levels for my boys have been a problem but I am happy because they managed to adapt and push for results,” he said.

“It wasn’t easy in the first half—we were jittery—but the good thing was that the boys managed to keep a clean sheet in the first half. In the second half, we spoke to the players, and we got the goals”

About the next round, Pasuwa said there is a need to prepare well in the second round of the CHAN qualifiers.

This is Pasuwa’s second match since he signed a two-year agreement with Malawi FA last month. His team has scored four goals without conceding.

“We still have work to do but the progress looks promising,” he said.
