Wedson Nyirenda, failed to register a win in his first match at FCB Nyasa Big Bullets when his side drew 1-1 at Ekhaya FC in the Airtel Top 8 Cup quarter final at Bingu National Stadium on Saturday night.

Nyirenda found Bullets dominated with draws after registering four draws and only two wins in the league out of six games.

On arrival, the Zambian coach said drawing matches remove the confidence in the players and promised to turn things around.

But in his first match in charge, popularly known as Wada Wada, could only afford a draw despite his side taking the lead just a minute in the second half.

Bullets scored at 46 minutes through George Chaomba, who finished home an effort by Maxwell Phodo.

At 70 minutes Allen Chihana leveled and scored a crucial goal for the visiting side to force the match into a one-all in the first leg. The second leg will be played in Blantyre on July 11.

Despite that, Nyirenda was in charge during the match, but he assigned a Bullets reserve coach, Heston Munthali, who is acting as his assistant, to speak to journalists.

Munthali said he was not happy with the approach of his boys in the second half and also said his team had numerous scoring opportunities but missed them.

“In the first half we played well and created a lot of scoring chances, but we missed them. In the second half we dropped our play; we will go back and talk to them,” said Munthali.

FCB Nyssa Big Bullets are defending Airtel Top 8 champions.
