After a strong performance by the majority of the recently called-up players who played in the friendly matches against Tanzania and Mozambique, Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos believes he will have a tough time choosing the national team squad in the upcoming International FIFA Window.
Last Friday, Bafana Bafana drew 0-0 with Tanzania in their first international friendly encounter. On Tuesday, they defeated Mozambique 2-0.
The Belgian tactician had a large pool of players to choose from ahead of the next games because he played the two games without the majority of his important players. For the two international friendly games, he used different players.
However, speaking in an interview with SAFA.NET, Broos said the team’s improved performance will make his job difficult.
“We scored twice against Mozambique, so yes, everything is positive about the past few days. This is something that will make my job very difficult in the next few months when you see that we have 23 players there in Polokwane.

“You know that there are still maybe also 23 who are with their clubs, still with their clubs or who are at home. So that means we can choose now between 40 players,” he said.
“This will be difficult because you have to drop players in September, players maybe who deserved it, but ok. I have to make choices, but this also means players will be more motivated because they know that there are guys behind them who are waiting to take their places. This will bring the level higher, certainly that will bring the level higher,” said the coach.
The two international friendly games were utilized by Bafana Bafana to get ready for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying round.
