Chipolopolo playmaker Joshua Mutale has been laid into by a section of Simba SC fans due to poor performances and lack of end product. The fans took to social media to express their displeasure with the Zambian’s performances in recent months.

This comes just five months after Simba SC signed Mutale from Power Dynamos FC on a three-year deal. He was the replacement for compatriot Clatous Chota Chama, who left as a free agent in the summer to join bitter rivals Young Africans SC.

Fans in Tanzania became admirers of Mutale in 2023 when they got a glimpse of the Copper Bullet star’s dribbling skill, pace, and attacking flair during a CAF Champions League qualifier between Simba and Power Dynamos.

However, hardly halfway into his debut campaign, Mutale has fallen into the bad books of the Simba fans. He has yet to score a goal for the Tanzanian club and has only managed one assist in 17 matches in all competitions.

Fans reactions on social media

Flooding the comment section of an Instagram post published by the club after their 1-0 victory against JKT Tanzania, a segment of Simba fans ripped into Mutale.

“The coach should know that Mutale Budo does not deserve even one minute of playing. He is a passenger in the field,” complained boscobarack.

emma_zeboy_ wondered, “But Mutale, the guy just fell, is he going to the gym to do some exercises?”

One fan ridiculed, “Mutale should be sent to TB Joshua to be prayed for.”

“Hey guys, this Mutale is a conman. Take him on loan even to Soccer City in Kigamboni,” suggested rammyboy10.

Another fan teased Mutale, “Give us your number so that we can contribute the fare to go back to Zambia.”

While a loan or permanent move away from the club cannot be ruled out, Simba SC head coach Fadlu Davids continues to show trust in Mutale. He believes the Zambian still has a significant role to play in the team.
