Zambian striker Alex Ng’onga scored on his debut in the CAF Confederation Cup with TP Mazembe in their 3-1 win over Malian club, Real Bamako 3-1 on Sunday.
Ng’onga scored with an excellent kick from an Issoma Mpeko cross in the 38th minute.
The 30-year-old has been in excellent form since joining Tp Mazembe from Zambian Super League side Nkana football club, scoring seven goals in five friendlies for the Congolese giants prior to Sunday’s match.
Ng’onga signed a two-year contract with Mazembe after being slapped with a six-month suspension by the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) when he was found guilty of misconduct.

In week 14 of the Zambian Super League, when his former club, Nkana, were playing against Power Dynamos, Ng’onga kicked a SuperSport TV pitch-side microphone and tore apart his jersey after being substituted.
Ng’onga scored nine goals to help his former club, Nkana, finish in the top four in the 2021/22 season and has continued his scoring form in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Mazembe now leads Group D in the continental interclub competition with three points after their home win.
In their next match, the Congolese giants will face Tanzanian side, Young Africans, and will bank on Ng’onga’s form to help the team, which has previously struggled in the CAF competitions, secure their second victory.
