Nyasa Big Bullets defeated Mafco FC 2-1 to lift their fourth trophy for the 2023 season at Kamuzu Banda stadium.

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets has repeated a record which they set 50 years ago when they won all trophies in Malawi.

MDC United, who won three trophies but lost the fourth, was another team that came so close to equaling Big Bullets record in 2000.

During the current 2023 season, Bullets has won TNM Super League, Castel Challenge Cup, FDH Bank Cup and yesterday won the Airtel Top 8 Cup.

Though the club has dominated all trophies, their head coach, Zimbabwean Kallisto Pasuwa says his club has struggled in the season.

“This season we struggled a lot, but people cannot see it. We dropped a lot of points as we played too many games in a few days,” he said.

Nyasa Big Bullets lifts Airtel Top 8 Cup.

Nicknamed the People’s Team, Bullets were first to find the back of the net from a Lanjesi Nkhoma strike 22 minutes into the first half after connecting well with an Anthony Mfune cross.

14 minutes later, it was level as Mafco FC found the net from Bullets’ defender Nickson Nyasulu who failed to clear Aubrey Chafewa’s free kick.

Bullets restored the lead in the 72nd minute when Nkhoma completed his brace through a rebound after goalkeeper Christopher Mikuwa had saved Nyasulu’s penalty.

After regulation time, Bullets won their fourth trophy and the last in the season at Kamuzu Stadium to the delight of Pasuwa.

“It is a team that has been fighting for everything and If we keep playing like this, we could be somewhere,” said Pasuwa.

For winning the quadruple, Bullets are MK137.5 million (USD 81,677.28) richer—they received MK50 million for winning the Castel Cup, MK40 million for winning the league, MK30 million for FDH Bank Cup and K17.5 million after winning the Airtel Top8 Cup.
