Malawi’s defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets failed to open a 3-point gap ahead of Silver Strikers after drawing 2-all at home against Dedza Dynamos FC on Saturday.

The match was played at Kamuzu Stadium, the home of Bullets. This is the second match this season for Bullets to drop points at home following a goalless draw two weeks ago to their arch-rivals Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.

However, the draw meant Bullets will still top the table with 26 points from 13 games. Silver Strikers will stay second with 25 points from 11 games.

Rookies Chitipa United are third with 23 points from 13 games and Wanderers are forth with 19 points from 11 games.

Bullets were exposed at the midfield and defense. The team missed the services of four key players namely Lanjesi Nkhoma, Frank Willard, Patrick Mwaungulu, and Alick Lungu who are with the Flames in South Africa. They also missed the services of other four key players due to injuries.

Following that, Bullets created a huge gap at the back and midfield, they failed to close spaces giving room to Dedza to penetrate and break their defense.

It ended to the delight of Dedza head coach Gilbert Chirwa: “I should thank my player for the gallant fight. We had a lot of chances to win the match but we failed to utilize them. All in all a point away from home is not bad.”

Bullets assistant coach Heston Munthali was not happy with their play.

“We did not come to the party. This is not how we play our game,’ he said. “Dedza dominated and it is disappointing that they drew this match otherwise they had all chances to collect maximum points.”
