Defending champions Zambia Women’s National Team are set to face Namibia in the first semi-final of the COSAFA Women’s Championship on Friday afternoon at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The Copper Queens secured their place in the semifinals after edging Eswatini 2-1 in their final group match to finish atop Group B with 7 points.
Zambia has enjoyed a solid run in the tournament, recording two wins and one draw. They will now be aiming to go beyond the semifinals and successfully defend their title.
“A very important game for us because we are trying by all means to reach the final,” Zambia’s coach Charles Haalubono said ahead of the semifinals. “The way we planned was in such a way that we try by all means to continue competing with good teams, and that is through progressing in the tournament.”

Haalubono acknowledged that his team understands the challenge posed by Namibia.
“It’s good they watched Namibia; they have seen the depth, which they have, even their substitutes, as they come; they bring in more power. So it’s a team that you cannot underrate; they are a very good side,” added the coach.
The defending champions will face either South Africa or Zimbabwe in the final should they overcome Namibia.
