The Teranga Lions of Senegal will make their bid to retain their continental championship when the 34th Africa Cup of Nations gets underway in Ivory Coast on January 13, 2023.
24 of the top African teams are going to compete for the much-sought-after championship, guided by the most skilled football managers.
Naturally, it costs a lot to hire a top manager who can be counted on to deliver the desired results at the football showpiece the following year.
As per Senenews, here are the ten highest-paid managers that are heading to AFCON 2023:
Ranking ninth on the list is Cameroonian icon Rigobert Song, who earns about €29,000 per month (K690,000) as the manager of the Indomitable Lions.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s coach, Chris Hughton, and Senegal’s Aliou Cisse both earn about €46,000 per month (K1,104,000).
Bafana Bafana manager Hugo Broos sits in sixth, making approximately €50,000 monthly (K1,200,000). On the other hand, following a contract extension in September, Nigeria’s manager Jose Peseiro’s paycheck dropped from €70,000 to €50,000.
Having inspired Morocco to a historic FIFA World Cup semifinal run, Walid Regragui commands a salary of about €60,000 per month (K1,440,000).
AFCON 2023 host manager, Jean-Louis Gasset, makes it into the top 3 with a mouth-watering €108,000 per month (K2,592,000) salary from the Ivorian FA. In contrast, Egyptian coach Rui Vitoria earns about €200,000 per month (K4,800,000).

The accolade for the highest-paid manager at the 2023 African Cup of Nations belongs to Algeria’s Djamel Belmadi, who garners as much as €208,000 per month (K4,992,000).
Meanwhile, Avram Grant earns at least €25,000 per month (K600,000) as the Zambian men’s national team manager. With that figure, the former Chelsea FC gaffer barely makes the top-10 list.
