The match venue for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Zambia and Lesotho has been changed.
The Heroes National Stadium, which was supposed to host the game on 20th March 2023, will be undergoing renovations in preparation for the Confederations of African Athletics championships, which Zambia will host in April of this year.
The Chipolopolo Boys will now play their home match away from Lusaka for the first time since 2021.
According to the Zambia Daily Mail, Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Andrew Kamanga made the announcement at the Copperbelt Provincial Annual general meeting in Kitwe over the weekend.
“This year will be busy with the national team in action for the qualifiers against Lesotho, and I am happy that the Zambia versus Lesotho game will be finally played at Levy Mwanawasa stadium,” he said.

Sports Minister Elvis Nkandu also announced last week that Heroes Stadium will undergo major renovation work, with the government allocating more than K44 million in readiness for the hosting of the African Athletics (CAA) under-18 and under-20 championships.
The Chipolopolo boys have been playing their games at Heroes Stadium since 2021, but this time there will be a change as newly appointed Coach Avram Grant’s first competitive assignment takes place at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
Zambia is second in the standings with three points, the same as Comoros, Lesotho is last with one point, and Ivory Coast is first with four points.
