Namibia will play Cameroon in the return fixture of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers at the Dobsonville stadium in South Africa.

The first leg between the two in Yaounde ended in a 1-1 draw with the Indomitable Lions rescuing a point through Olivier Kemen in the 72nd minute after Mamelodi Sundowns’ Peter Shalulile put the Brave Warriors in the lead early in the 26th minute.

Namibia is second in the three-team group with two points from their last two games, one ahead of Burundi who are third with a game in hand.

A Victory over the indomitable Lions today will be a huge boost towards securing their fourth qualification for next year’s AFCON.

Meanwhile, the Brave Warriors coach Collin Benjamin believes that he has a young and ambitious squad that will be able to earn qualification for the AFCON.

“We have a very young and hungry team, one that wants to prove themselves,” he said during the pre-match press conference. “And to do that we need to play against the best in Africa. We know Cameroon is one of the top nations in Africa…. They were at the World Cup and our boys are also very hungry and want to go there too.”

Benjamin added that the Africa cup of nations is the best platform for his players to showcase their talents.

“This is the platform that we need for our boys to show Africa that Namibia is there and wants to play football.

“There are three teams in the group and two will go through… Our mission will be to steal points… And we want to be with the best at the the nations cup next year,” he confidently stated.
