Lawerance Mulenga, the first-choice goalie for the Chipolopolo boys and Power Dynamos, says that his injury was not serious and that he is getting better every day.

During last Friday’s Zambia vs. Chad AfCON match which ended goalless at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, Mulenga suffered a cut to the right side of his face.

He was not part of the winning squad that travelled to Cameroon for the reverse 2025 Group G AfCON match against Chad.

Speaking to Bolanews exclusively, Mulenga said he is slowly healing what is remaining is the swollening to reduce.

“Am far much better, the doctor said I need enough time to recover so that the swollening can reduce. I may get back to full training after two weeks,”said Mulenga.

Mulenga has played in 3 matches for the Chipolopolo in the 2025 AfCON Qualifiers, but is yet to keep a clean sheet.

After defeating Chad 1-0, the Chipolopolo boys now have seven points, two more than Ivory Coast, who are in first place in the group with nine.

Zambia will host Ivory Coast next month before travelled to Monrovia for the final Group G match against Sierra Leone.

The 2012 African Champions must win both of their remaining games to guarantee their spot in the 2025 AfCON.
