The battle for places in the 2026 Absa Cup has intensified as the MTN Super League approaches the halfway mark, with the race for the remaining qualification slots wide open.

League leaders Power Dynamos, second-placed Red Arrows and third-placed Zanaco have already secured qualification, placing early pressure on the chasing pack.

From fourth to ninth position, the margins are razor-thin, with every point proving decisive. Who will take the remaining four slots in the Super League?

Nchanga Rangers (4th, 25 points)

With games in hand and a solid defensive record, Nchanga Rangers are well positioned to challenge for a top-seven finish. Their key task will be to translate strong home form into consistent results as pressure mounts from teams below.

FC MUZA (5th, 24 points)

MUZA have been among the hardest teams to beat this season, a fact reflected in their high number of draws. While this resilience has kept them in contention, converting draws into wins will be crucial if they are to secure Absa Cup qualification.

Kabwe Warriors (6th, 23 points)

Kabwe Warriors sit just above the cut-off line and remain firmly in the hunt, but recent form has raised concerns. With little room for error, the Warriors must rediscover momentum quickly to stay ahead of the chasing pack.

Zesco United (7th, 22 points)

Currently occupying the final qualification spot, Zesco United remain very much in the race but are under pressure from both above and below. Their experience could prove vital, though any dropped points could see them slip out of the top seven.

Green Eagles (8th, 22 points)

Level on points with Zesco United, Green Eagles are separated only by goal difference and games played. A positive run of results could easily propel them into the qualification zone, making them one of the most dangerous outsiders in the race.

Mufulira Wanderers (9th, 22 points)

Despite sitting ninth, Mufulira Wanderers remain firmly in the Absa Cup conversation. Level on points with the teams in seventh and eighth, Wanderers have a realistic pathway into the top seven. Improved recent performances, coupled with upcoming head-to-head fixtures against direct rivals, mean a strong run could see the former giants leapfrog several teams and snatch qualification before the halfway cut-off.

As the league nears the 17-game mark for all teams, the Absa Cup race promises plenty of drama, with fine margins separating qualification from disappointment.
