ZPL National League leaders Konkola Blades midfielder Evans Abu has urged his teammates not to underrate Solwezi Academy ahead of their clash in the 2025 ABSA Cup Round of 16.
Solwezi Academy, playing with 10 men, defeated MathKat United 1-0 thanks to a 37th-minute strike from Enock Sachifula in a match at Nkana Stadium.
The win has set up a tie against Konkola Blades, who currently sit atop the ZPL National League table after 28 weeks of action.
In an interview, Abu emphasized that Solwezi Academy boasts several talented players. He added that the key to overcoming them will be to stay focused on their game plan and execute it effectively against the ambitious side.
“I think they have quality and talented players as well, but we’re focusing on our game plan and executing it to the best of our abilities,” Abu said.
The Ghanaian-born midfielder says he is aiming to help the team progress deep in the tournament.
“As an individual, my obligation is to put up my level best performance to help the team to reach as far as we can,” he stated.
“As a team, I think we are ready and prepared for any team that we will meet as far as the Absa Cup is concerned, and our main target is to go higher in the Absa Cup.”
Meanwhile, Sharp Razor have failed to secure maximum points in their last two league matches, recording draws against Chambishi Football Club and Chipata United Football Club.
