Following a one-all draw against AfCON defending champions, Ivory Coast on Sunday, Cameroon head coach David Pagou is not worried of early elimination from the tournament.
Manchester United’s winger Amad Diallo opened the scoring for the Ivorians to put them ahead in the 51st minute.
That lead was cut short as Cameroon responded through Junior Tchamadeu five minutes later to restore back parity for the Indomitable Lions.
In a post match interview, Pagou said there was no need to panic as Cameroon still have a match before them.
“We’re choosing to focus on the positives. There’s still one game left, so no need to panic. We faced the reigning champions—an experienced squad—against a very young team. There’s nothing to be ashamed of. We’ll take this point with satisfaction and shift our focus to the next match,” he said.

Despite pressure mounting from both sides, none of the two teams managed to find a breakthrough.
After yesterday’s match, Cameroon and Ivory Coast are level on four points from two matches played.
However, Ivory Coast head coach Emerse Fae applauded his team for putting up a good fight.
“It was a good game with a very good team, the Cameroon team, and we had good moments, and sometimes moments can be difficult, but it was a good game—an open game with many opportunities for the two teams. So I am happy to not lose this game. I am happy with the energy the team gave. Am comfortable and looking forward to the next game,” he said.
On Wednesday Cameroon will take on Mozambique, while Ivory Coast will face already eliminated Gabon.
