Patson Daka says there is no greater feeling than scoring goals as he looks forward to creating special memories with Hamburger SV supporters ahead of the new Bundesliga season.

The 27-year-old Zambian striker has scored twice and provided one assist in two pre-season matches as he continues to settle into his new club.

Daka was on target on August 1 when Hamburger SV suffered a 2-1 defeat to English Premier League side Everton during the Volksparkfestival at the Volksparkstadion, scoring his side’s consolation goal in front of the home supporters.

Reflecting on his impressive pre-season form, Daka said scoring goals remains the most rewarding part of football.

“I think for me it’s always special to score goals, whether it’s training or whether it’s a game; it’s always special because I love that feeling. It’s a feeling that you can’t explain to anyone unless they experience it,” he told the club’s media.

The Chipolopolo striker said scoring at Hamburger SV’s home stadium made the occasion even more memorable.

“It’s always special, and for me to do it in the stadium, I think it made it even extra special.”

Daka said his main ambition this season is to enjoy his football while helping the club achieve success alongside its supporters.

“This season I think what I’m looking forward to the most is just having a lot of fun with the team and the fans as well. I think I’m just looking forward to that connection between the team and the fans, and hopefully we have success together and have special moments,” Daka added.

The former Leicester City forward also explained the inspiration behind his trademark goal celebration.

“I got the inspiration from the Bible, from Ephesians 6, verse 11, ‘Put on the full armour of God.’ So it means the full armour of God,” he concluded.
