Bolabet Zambia has sponsored the construction of a new basketball court outside the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka, following the groundbreaking ceremony held today.
The new basketball court will be constructed by Tria Alfa Enterprises as part of efforts to improve the area, help keep the surroundings clean and support the development of basketball in the country.
The project is being undertaken through a partnership between the Government of Zambia, through the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Arts, and Bolabet Zambia. It is expected to be completed within six to eight weeks.

Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Arts, Kangwa Chileshe commended BolaBet for its commitment to corporate social responsibility.
“This project is a powerful example of what can be achieved when the private sector partners with government to advance national development,” Chileshe said. “I commend BolaBet Zambia Limited for its commitment to corporate social responsibility and for recognizing sport as a catalyst for youth empowerment, community development, and social inclusion.”
Chileshe further described Bolabet as a shining example of a good corporation in the country and urged other companies to emulate its efforts.
“We encourage more private sector partners to emulate the example by investing in community sport and helping us build a stronger sporting nation. We see BolaBet is taking the lead in helping government build sports infrastructure.”
Meanwhile, BolaBet Chief Operations Officer (COO) Clive Lewis said the company would continue delivering on its commitments to sport development.
“When BolaBet says it will do something, it will do something,” Lewis said. “You can trust us. We are a brand you can believe in. And we are really excited about this.
“Bolabet is committed to all sports, not just football. And basketball is a growing sport in Zambia, and it’s only a matter of time before we start to see big, big stars. We are the first company to also sponsor a basketball team in Zambia, and this is just the beginning for us with this project.”

Meanwhile, the Bookmakers & iGaming Association of Zambia (BIGA) president, Ray Kumwenda, also commended BolaBet for the initiative and urged other betting companies to follow suit.
“We’ve seen a strong partnership between Bolabet and the ministry which is empowering youths, and as an association, we want to see such initiatives that are going to empower the youths.
“Our call as BIGA is to invite all betting companies to take on such initiatives. I think I would want to see a situation where we’ve got another betting company that may partner with the Ministry of Sport, as we’ve seen the example shown by Bolabet, which has been very consistent.”
BolaBet has continued to lay a foundation in supporting the government’s development agenda, particularly through its investment in sports development.
The betting brand currently sponsors the Matero Magic Basketball Team and the Red Arrows Football Club.
