It’s obvious that Patson Daka’s spell at Leicester City has not gone swimmingly, and there are signs that he could be on his way out in this transfer window.
The electric Zambian striker who was initially brought in to replace the aging Jamie Vardy has seemingly not lived up to the expectations of many, having had less game time than his supposed predecessor.
Daka, who joined Leicester City from Red Bull Salzburg, where he scored 68 goals in 125 games, made his debut on August 7, 2021, from the bench against Manchester City to lift the FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium.
His first Premier League goal arrived on October 16 in Leicester’s 4-2 win over Manchester United at King Power Stadium.
Daka also became the first Foxes player since 1958 to score four goals in a single fixture. He netted all four goals in a 4-3 comeback victory over Spartak Moscow in the UEFA Europa League.
In the following year, he took his tally to 11 in his first season in Leicester.
Is Daka leaving Leicester City?
Last season, Daka summed up his tally of goals for the Foxes with 15 goals in 74 appearances.
Following their relegation to the Championship, Daka has yet to play a competitive match. He was an unused substitute in their league matches against Burton Albion and Coventry.
His exclusion from the squad against Huddersfield on Saturday has since catalyzed the transfer speculations.
Coach Enzo Maresca has even gone as far as selecting two goalkeepers on the bench; it’s evident he could be deemed surplus to requirements.
City confirmed that Conor Coady, Mads Hermansen, and Victor Kristiansen were their only players who did not make the matchday squad due to injury.
However, it has not been stated why Daka was not on the bench.

According to Sky Sports’ Alan Myers, Premier League side Everton are interested in signing Daka from Leicester City.
This is the second time he has been linked with a move out of Leicester City in this transfer window. Italian side AS Roma is another club that reportedly showed interest, but a deal never materialized.
With the transfer window still open, coach Maresca hinted that more players may leave his side. It now remains to be seen if Daka will stay at Leicester City.
