“I got a message from Sir Alex Ferguson (treble winner with Manchester United in 1989-99 season) this morning on my phone that touched me a lot,” he said.
Pep Guardiola has now won the treble twice, with two different clubs, Barcelona in 2008/09 and now with Manchester City in 2022/2023 season.
Continental treble winners
Manchester City becomes the sixth English team to win the European Cup/UEFA champions League after Aston Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest.
Ajax, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Celtic, Inter, Manchester United, Manchester City and PSV are the only teams to have won a continental treble.
