Former Chipolopolo players are set to play an exhibition match against Barcelona Legends tomorrow at Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

The match, which is being organized by the Kings of Africa in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports, will be used to promote the country’s tourism industry.

The Zambian team, led by Christopher Katongo and coached by Chipolopolo legend Kalusha Bwalya, will be comprised of the squad that won the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Meanwhile, Barcelona Legends led by Brazilian star, Ronaldinho are expected to arrive in Lusaka this afternoon.

One of the Zambian players, former Chipolopolo AFCON-winning defender Davies Nkausu, has said he will play to win.

“It will be good to play in front of our fans. It will be competitive; we hate to lose; that’s the mentality that Herve Renard and Patrice plugged in our heads,” Nkausu told the press. “Losing was not part of our DNA, so we will be playing to win. Even though it’s a Legends game, we are not going to hold back.”

“Fans should expect the same”- Nkausu

The SuperSport United Under-19 assistant coach also said fans should expect the same energy from the 2012 Legends.

“Fans should expect the same. Once you are on the soccer field, the mentality will change, no matter how long you have been away. But once you step in the field, it’s a different story,” stated Nkausu. “And for us as the Zambia 2012 players, we never take friendlies lightly; every time we play a friendly, we take it as a game.”

The 37-year-old defender began his football career in 2002 with the Chiparamba Great Eagles. He then joined Pretoria University FC in 2003, where he made 101 appearances and scored four goals.

In the 2008-09 season, Nkausu moved to Supersport United and won the South African league twice in 2009 and 2010.

He played for Zambia at all junior levels before making 32 appearances for the senior Chipolopolo Boys,, and winning the Africa Cup in 2012.
