According to a Facebook post monitored by BolaNews in a group dubbed “Kabwe Warriors FC Supporter Group,” an account bearing the name “Cephas Mulomba” posted the termination notice, informing the club hierarchy of the player’s decision to leave the club.
In the same post, the player cited personal reasons for terminating his current contract with the Numba Mumamba-coached side, and he also expressed gratitude to the club for the opportunity to play for the Railway Stadium-domiciled side.
Meanwhile, Kabwe Warriors FC chairman Mutale Ng’andwe has expressed ignorance about the development and told Bolanews that the club is not aware of the player’s purported termination of his contract.
“We have not received any official communication from the player,” he said. “There is a procedure that one has to follow when terminating a contract and if it’s on social media, we will take it as social media.”
The Chairman also revealed that the club has not had any problem with the player as he is still one of their key players.
“We have no problem with the player. I am actually shocked to hear that there is such a post. We do not even believe that he has posted that statement. Maybe it could be just some people that are trying to be malicious. Until we receive official communication, we can be able to confirm.”
Mulomba, who had much playing time during the reign of Ian Bakala last season, has struggled for game time in the 2022–23 Super League season.
His last significant run came on October 9, 2022, when Kabwe Warriors played Green Eagles at Independence Stadium in Choma where he came on as a substitute.
