On Wednesday, not so stylish Roan United suffered a 4-0 home defeat to Zesco United in a rescheduled week three super league fixture of Stream B of the transitional league at Kafubu stadium.
Reacting to the outcome, head coach Satchmo Chakawa attributed to heavy defeat to defensive mistakes and a collapse in concentration by his side.
Chakawa said his team started the match well but struggled after conceding the the opening goal by the visitors.
“We made a few mistakes. I think we were a bit rash in our challenges. We allowed the penalty there. I think the goals were soft, but we were playing a quality side.”
He says his lads were punished for switching off defensively.
“They didn’t create a lot, but the ones they created, they finished. They will punish you, and if you switch off, they will punish you,” he said.
Chakawa has noted that the club faces a demanding season as it adjusts to the level of competition.
“It will be difficult. It will be a tough season, but we know we can fight. We should win the games we are supposed to win,” he said.
He described the rescheduled fixture as a bonus opportunity for his team, adding that collecting a point or winning would have been an added advantage.
“Obviously, this one was a bonus game, where we know where we are. If we had collected a point or won this game, it would have been a bonus. Hopefully, we learn from this and take it to the next game,” Chakawa said.
Looking ahead, the coach urged the team to put the defeat behind them and focus on their next assignment against Mutondo Stars.

“We can lose such a game by this margin and bounce back to a positive result. So, we should focus on the next game against Mutondo” he said.
“If we can pick something against Mutondo. It would bring us to that confident level where I thought today it was just against a better team.”
Roan United will take on Mutondo Stars on Sunday.
