Noria Nawa, a forward for Indeni Roses Football Club, says she is drawing inspiration from Copper Queens stars Barbra Banda and Racheal Kundananji as she works towards achieving success in her football career.
Kundananji, a former Indeni Roses forward, now plays for the Chicago Stars in the USA alongside the national team captain Banda, who is with the Orlando Pride.
Speaking in an interview, the Mongu-born forward said Banda and Kundananji are her current role models as she seeks to progress from club football to the national team.
She said she understands that reaching their level requires extra effort and a willingness to learn from her coaches.
“I just have to work extra hard, put more effort into whatever the coaches will be telling me and be disciplined,” Nawa said.
The young forward, who plays in the attacking positions, began her football journey while still in primary school in Western Province.
“I will keep working hard” – Nawa.
She started with Edu Sport before joining Mulauli FC Academy following the end of her first team’s journey, eventually finding her way to Indeni Roses, where she is now developing her career.
Nawa has set her sights on representing Zambia at the Under-17 and Under-20 level before earning a place in the senior Copper Queens team.
She said her immediate priority is to work hard in training, secure regular places in the Indeni Roses matchday squad, and take her chances whenever given an opportunity.
“Firstly, I’ll start by myself. I have to first work hard here at the pitch so that I can achieve my goals. My target is not only to play here at Indiana Roses, but it’s to see myself playing at U-17 and U-20 national teams and later at the senior team,” she explained.

She added, “My goal is to be part of the team in each and every game, and I’ll keep on working hard. It’s not easy to be part of the 20 players, but I’ll make sure to be part of it, and I’m looking forward to scoring in each and every game that they’ll be giving me a chance to play.”
