On Saturday, at Trade Fair ground in Ndola, Green Eagles silenced home side, Zesco United 0-1 in a Week Two MTN-FAZ 2026-27 transitional league to register their second win on the road.
This win comes a week after the Choma-based side demolished Mighty Mufulira Wanderers 1-4 at Shinde stadium in a Week One fixture.
Reacting to the outcome, Eagles head coach, Perry Mutapa attributed the victory to his team adherence to instructions. Mutapa said that his boys managed to contain pressure from Zesco United..
“The game plan worked to perfection because Zesco United came at us, especially in the first half. It is good when you plan for the game; we knew Zesco after drawing the first game. They wanted to win this game in front of their home supporters“
Mutapa noted that the match lived up to a cup final as stated by Zesco United FC Mwenya Chipepo prior to the encounter.
“Of course the coach (Mwenya Chipepo) said it was a cup final, and we knew that was transferred to the players. It was a cup final indeed; they were overall us in the first half” he said.
The U-20 national team coach added that second half technical changes ensured his side took control of the match.
“Six points, means a lot”- Mutapa.
“But come in the second half, we made some substitutes, because that was our game plan, and exactly what we did in Mufulira, Amity coming from the bench, he scores, wonderful“

Looking ahead , Mutapa is putting behind him and his boys, the two away wins as he prepares for the next match.
“Of course we will be at home, playing two games, six points away from home. It means a lot. I think the boys, especially in today’s game, worked a lot, so it is just a second game, so we go back and plan for the third game. This is a huge win, but it doesn’t mean anything” he said.
