Zambia’s sole representatives in the CAF Champions League, Red Arrows football club have this morning
left for Angola ahead of Sunday’s second leg fixture of the preliminary round against Primero de Agosto.
Arrows coach Chisi Mbewe has declared his team ready and said he is confident they can overturn the 0-1 deficit they suffered in the first leg..
The Airmen were defeated on home soil last Saturday by the Angolan side at the National Heroes Stadium after conceding a goal only 5 minutes into the match when striker Ambrosini Salvador shot from
long-range to slot in what was the winner for the visitors.
However, Mbewe believes the team has prepared well for the second leg encounter and he is hopeful they will play according to the plan and win the match.
We are still in the competition and we know the task which is ahead of us, we are not under pressure but we are going to Angola to go and fight and come back with the much-needed results,
For now, what is important is to attack and score more goals so that we can qualify for the next round. We have told the boys not to lose concentration but to remain focused.
Chisi Mbewe said.
Meanwhile, Agosto will be without their star striker Ambrosini Salvador who scored against Arrows in the first leg last week after completing a move to Greek Super League side AEK on a remunerated loan with an option to buy.
The 20-year-old scored 12 goals in 22 games in the Angolan league last season and has been a key member of the Agosto squad.
The Zambian Super League champions will now look to capitalize on the vacuum left by the striker this Sunday as they will have to score two unanswered goals this Sunday to stand a chance of qualifying
to the next round of the CAF Champions League.
