After a 1-0 victory over Green Eagles in the Musanza derby at Independence Stadium in Choma on Saturday, FC MUZA surged to the top of the MTN Super League standings.
With three victories and a draw from their first four games, the Mazabuka-based team has solidified their place among the early pacesetters of the 2025–26 season.
The Elegant Dynamites have proven to be strong travelers, having already collected a crucial away win in Chililabombwe and now Choma.
Speaking after the match, head coach Nowell Phiri praised his side’s resilience and tactical discipline against a determined Green Eagles outfit.

“First and foremost, I want to thank God Almighty because we won with it,” Phiri said. “Coming to the game was very tough. Green Eagles—very tough to see. But we had to resist their pressure. When you’re playing bigger teams like Green Eagles, you need to prepare adequately. They came out strong, and it wasn’t easy. We had to adopt a defensive mindset to push on the pitch.”
“It’s too early to mention our objective”— Phiri.
Phiri emphasized that his team is focusing on steady progress rather than making bold declarations about their ambitions early in the season.
“We are taking each game as it comes. What is important is preparing our boys so that we go into the next match with focus and discipline. It’s too early to mention our objective,” he noted.
“What matters now is moving slowly, collecting as many points as possible.”
On the departure of striker Andrew Phiri, he expressed confidence in the depth of his squad.
“What is important is we had people following behind, and those are now coming out of their shells. We are looking forward to more games to come,” he said.
