Mutapa Picks Lessons After Power Dynamos’ Defeat to APR

Power Dynamos head coach Oswald Mutapa says his team will take valuable lessons from their 2-0 defeat to Rwanda’s APR FC as they continue preparations for the CAF Champions League.

Speaking in a post-match interview after Sunday’s loss in Kigali on Sunday, Mutapa expressed disappointment with missed opportunities but is optimistic about the team’s readiness for continental football.

“Good football, lesson learned from the game, but I feel we could have done much better in the first half,” Mutapa said. “We could have scored before they scored on us, especially in the first half. We had better chances, and we controlled the game.”

The Zambian champions conceded twice in the second half, both goals coming from striker Cheick Djibril Ouattara in the 50th and 51st minutes. Mutapa attributed the setback to lapses in concentration on his players.

“We conceded from a set piece, a loss of concentration. We gave away a pass near the 18-yard box, and at this level you are punished,” he explained.

“The reason we came here [to Rwanda] is because we are very much ready for CAF games. The way we are playing, it is just the finishing, and we will work on it.”

Despite their elimination from the Inkera Y’Abahizi tournament hosted by 23-time Rwandan champions APR, Mutapa insists Power Dynamos’ preparations remain on track.
