League champions wannabe Nkana have compromised their chances to catch up with leaders Power Dynamos after playing to a 2–2 draw against Zanaco at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
Nkana assistant coach Christopher Katongo warned that Nkana are coming for the top but things have gotten complicated as they have missed a chance to significantly reduce the gap between them and Power.
Though a point has been shared, this is a game that felt like a loss for both teams in that Zanaco has remained on 33 points, joint with Atletico Lusaka, who are occupying the first relegation place.
The Bankers drew first blood in the 31st minute when a Willson Chisala effort beat Monga Ndala in the Nkana goal to silence the partisan home fans and the entire Wusakile.
Things moved from bad to worse 10 minutes later, when Dominic Kanda doubled the lead much to the annoyance of the home fans and the Nkana technical bench.
However, in their never say die attitude and backed by their adoring fans, Nkana mounted a comeback that saw them go into the break with a consolation from Idris Mbombo. His goal in the 45th minute.
After the restart, the halftime talk from Mwenya Chipepo seemed to have worked wonders, as Nkana managed to level the score three minutes after the restart.
Both teams tried to go for a winner but were let down by poor finishing.
Nkana remain third on the log with 51 points, six behind Power and could fall further behind should the Ndeke side beat Napsa Stars tomorrow.
