Power Dynamos’ charge for their eighth league title is well on course with the Kitwe side opening a six – point lead at the summit after seeing off Mutondo Stars.
It was a mini-kitwe derby at a near-packed Arthur Davies Stadium, Power has no problems dispatching Mutondo whom they condemned to a 2 – 0 defeat.
Frederick Mulambia set Power in motion with a 22nd minute striker, 10 minutes before Prince Mumba doubled the advantage and sealed the win for the team that was playing home away from home.
This win saw Power move to 54 points, six better than Zesco United who are out of action until Thursday when they face Green Buffaloes at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
In the scheme of things, this is a big win for Power as it means they have gone nine games without a loss, seven of which have been straight wins. It was a 10 out of 10 performance for Oswald Mutapa who was celebrating being crowned the Bolanews coach of the month for February.
After a challenging period between December 7, 2024 and January 11 2025, where his team went five matches without a win, things seem to have fallen into place for a man famed after Portuguese trainer Jose Mourinho.
For Mutondo, the result meant they remain winless in four matches. Their last victory was on February 15 against Indeni. They remain stuck in the relegation zone with 29 points.
