Kabwe Warriors’ 1-0 loss to under pressure Green Buffaloes on Sunday at Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka cost them the chance to reclaim the top spot in the MTN Super League. Peter N’guni’s 23rd-minute goal secured all three points for the Nyanta Boys, who have had a rough patch.

With a win, Kabwe Warriors (44 points) would have returned to the top of the league, on goal difference where Zesco United (47 points) is in first place.

Speaking in a Post-match Interview, Kabwe Warriors’ assistant coach, Derick Mulenga, emphasized the need to learn from the setback. “We came here to collect maximum points as we always prepare for the win, but at the end of the day we lost. It’s something that we have to learn from,” he stated.

Mulenga reiterated the importance of focusing on upcoming matches rather than dwelling on the standings. “Football has a loss, a win, and a draw, and you learn from all results. For us, we learn from this game when we return home. We are not looking at the table for now; we’re just looking at the games that are coming,” he added.

Despite an unbeaten run prior to Sunday’s defeat, Mulenga emphasized the need to motivate the players for future fixtures. “All the games are important. I think we have done well in the past six games; we just have to go there, encourage the guys, and work on our mistakes,” he concluded.

In the meantime, Green Buffaloes is seventh on the log with 37 points from 25 matches played in the 2024-25 season.
