Trident Football Club has made technical bench changes that will take effect immediately following a mutual separation with head coach Ernest Koffi.
The Ghanaian manager leaves the club after 24 games in charge during the 2024/25 season, where he led them to 10 victories, six draws, and eight defeats.
In light of the development, the Conquerors have named former Mutondo Stars Football Club head coach George Chilufya as interim manager until the end of the season.
Chilufya holds a CAF A coaching license and brings a wealth of experience to the position, having previously managed Super League clubs Nkana FC and Mutondo Stars FC.
He recently left Mutondo Stars, a club he initially joined as a technical director, before taking the role of head coach following the departure of Zeddy Sailti, who joined Kansanshi Dynamos.
As part of the technical bench reshuffles, Trident Football Club has also appointed Mpulungu Harbour assistant coach Jackson Mwanza as their new first assistant coach on a contract running until the end of the season.
Mwanza, a former striker in his playing days, joins the Chilufya-led technical bench that is completed by Arnold Malisawa, Graven Chitalu, and goalkeeper trainer Isaac Shimoko.
Trident Football Club Chief Executive Officer Mang’ulenje Mvula expressed confidence in the appointment of Chilufya as it aligns with the aim of gaining promotion to the MTN Super League.
“We are confident that under Mr. George Chilufya’s leadership, the team will achieve significant improvement on the field and ultimately qualify for the Super League,” he stated.
The club has tasked Chilufya with securing a return to the Super League.
