Mufulira Wanderers were 2-1 home winners over Nkwazi Football Club on Saturday during Week 25 of the MTN Super League, thanks to early goals from Gilbert Tetani and Patson Kwataine in the 11th and 13th minutes, respectively.

Speaking After the match, Nkwazi head coach Aggrey Chiyangi attributed the defeat to the early goals conceded, despite a 40th-minute goal by Kenneth Kasanga that failed to spark a comeback.

Chiyangi stated, “The mistake we made is just to allow those two early goals; if we had not allowed that two goals, I think the situation would have been different.”

Chiyangi also expressed dissatisfaction with his team’s first-half performance, noting that Mufulira Wanderers were given too much space.

He disclosed his halftime team talk: “We were a bit too slow to react to the situation. We told them in the second half that you are giving them too much space.”

Tetani.

The defeat prevented Nkwazi from moving into the top four, missing the chance to go three points above Nkana, who are currently fourth and suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Nchanga Rangers on Saturday.

Chiyangi described the loss as a significant setback, saying, “It’s a very big setback, especially looking at where we are. I have heard that Nkana have lost 2-0; if we had won, it was going to be good because we were going to open with three points.”

The police-sponsored side will next face Red Arrows in a Lusaka derby at home in a Week 26 fixture.
