Chisi Mbewe, the head coach of Red Arrows, is certain that his club will be able to defend the ABSA Cup and MTN Super League titles, which they won last season.

At Sunset Stadium on Wednesday, the Airmen fought to a 2-2 tie with Zanaco FC, raising their point total to 29, two points behind log leaders Zesco United, who have 31 points.

Furthermore, they have qualified for the 2025 ABSA Cup after reaching the halfway mark of the season in fifth position.

Arrows have registered 8 wins, five draws, and four defeats, thus far, showcasing a mix of results.

Mbewe stated that his squad can defend their double if they can wotk on their defensive during the season break.

“We have high chances; after we play Sunday’s game, we need to go on break. When we go on a break, we need not sleep; we need to work on the areas that we did not do so well in the first round,” Mbewe said.

He has noted that the next round will be highly competitive as most teams will want to consolidate their positions.

“We’re Coming Back Strong” – Mbewe.

“We know that going into the second round of this season, it is now game management. We need to work on the areas like I mentioned [scoring and defending],” he stated.

“This is where teams tend to fight to win the league and other teams try to survive relegation, and it becomes a bit difficult. So, we need to go into the break, reorganize, and come back strong in the second round.”

Mbewe has warned his team against being complacent. The Airmen have allowed 13 goals while only scoring 18 goals in 17 matches.

“We don’t need to be complacent. We just need to remind them of the goals that we have set for this season and ensure that we work extra hard. It’s not going to come on a silver plate,” he said.
