Chiyangi bemoans Nkwazi’s failed ABSA qualification

The team failed to secure a draw and missed out on ABSA qualification.

Aggrey Chiyangi, head coach of Nkwazi FC, says it’s disheartening to see his team concede in the final minute of a game when they were well prepared to take the three points.

Nkwazi lost 1-0 to Lumwana Radiants in a week 17 match played at Lumwana grounds to miss out on qualification for the 2025 ABSA Cup.

Lumwana’s William Kamwanga scored in the dying minutes, giving the home side a much-needed three points.

Speaking to the club’s media after the match, head coach Aggrey Chiyangi said he was disappointed with the result despite doing everything to win.

“It’s very disappointing because we did everything that we did in order to win,” bemoaned Chiyangi. “But again, allowing a goal in the last minute is what is very painful. We know this is football, but when we look at the goal we conceded, it’s not a goal we would have failed to defend.

“In football sometimes you have to be ruthless, especially when you are a striker. I am looking at the chances that we created; if we were ruthless, we would have buried the game in the first half, but like it was, we were careless and missed those chances,” he added.

“Let’s remain focused”- Chiyangi

The former Green Eagles boss called on the team to remain focused ahead of the upcoming matches.

“But again, we have to concentrate and look ahead to the games that are coming. I have spoken to the players and this is where you see players who are ready to play on another level,” added Chiyangi.

Meanwhile, the police outfit is now sitting in eighth place with 25 points, marking 6 wins, 7 draws, and 4 defeats.

Nkwazi will face Mutondo stars in their next fixture on Sunday at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
