Newly appointed Nchanga Rangers head coach George Lwandamina has called on his players to fight for the team ahead of his debut match in charge against defending champions Red Arrows on Saturday at Nchanga Stadium.
Nchanga Rangers have endured a tough start to the season, managing only two wins from their opening 11 matches.
Speaking ahead of the Week 12 fixture of the Zambian Premier League match, the veteran coach emphasized on team coordination.
“They have to show character; they have to play for the badge; they have to play for the team,”
The team is in the relegation zone with 10 points after four draws and five losses. Even though it’s a difficult fight, Lwandamina thinks his boys can survive relegation, if they put up their best effort.
“We are not sitting well on the table, which they know. They have to put in a lot of effort,” he stated.
Lwandamina has been pleased with the players’ response throughout practice since taking over, and he hopes that they will repeat similar dedication on game day.
“It’s been overwhelming. The response has been good. I just hope and trust that they will be able to replicate what I saw in training. Things will unfold well,” he said.
Lwandamina sees his team’s matchup against the reigning champions as a chance to impress their home crowd.
“Red Arrows are a good side, they are the current champions. We have respect for that. Even us ourselves, we are not sitting well on the table. It will be an interesting game,” he concluded.
